Procedures for Tropical Cyclones and Red/Black Rainstorm Warnings 

Please note the following arrangements for severe Hong Kong weather. 

SITUATION  BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS  WHILST IN SESSION
TYPHOON Hoisting of No.1 Signal

The School will operate as 

normal. 

The School will operate as normal.
Hoisting of No.3 Signal

The school will close. The classes will be cancelled. Parents should collect their children from school as soon as possible.
In force at 6.30am Hoisting of 

No.8 Signal or above

The school will close.  The school will close.
Lowering to No.1 Signal or 

cancellation of all signals

The school will operate as 

normal.

The school will resume operation in accordance with guidelines issued by the EDB.
RAINSTORM Raising of Amber Rainstorm Warning

The school will operate as 

normal. 

The school will operate as normal.
Raising of Red/Black Rainstorm Warning

The school will close. Classes will finish at the scheduled time. The school will remain open until it is safe to make arrangements for the children to leave. 

For school bus students, please contact the school bus company for more details (Kindergarten Only).

Lowering to Amber Rainstorm Warning or the lowering of all warnings. The school will operate as 

normal.

  • We recommend that all parents listen to radio or television announcements during persistent rainy/windy weather conditions, especially with regard to Education Bureau announcements. Students will not be notified individually. Parents are requested to pay attention to the Hong Kong Observatory weather reports and exercise their discretion in deciding whether or not to send their children to school when the weather is unstable. 
  • For classes cancelled due to severe weather conditions, no refund or make-up classes will be arranged.
