Leadership

SEN Coordinator (Primary Section)

We are seeking to appoint a non-class based SEN Coordinator to take joint ownership of ensuring good progress is made by all children with Special Educational Needs in our Early Years section.

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 4 years teaching experience in a mainstream classroom. The successful candidate needs to be innovative, be able to manage and develop support staff, oversee interventions, teach small groups of pupils as well as develop effective relationships with parents. He/she will be required to evaluate the impact of interventions across the schools and manage this provision effectively. The successful candidate will hold, or be willing to undertake a SENCO qualification.

The successful candidate will be:

  • a Native English Speaker

  • an enthusiastic, highly motivated, innovative, flexible, open-minded and caring professional

  • able to inspire and challenge the children

  • a confident classroom practitioner

  • a confident communicator with parents

  • able to work as part of a dynamic learning team

  • able to provide a proven track record of working with children with a wide range of needs, as well as a comprehensive understanding of SEN programmes within a kindergarten setting.

  • knowledgeable and experienced with working in the Early Years Foundation Stage with Special Educational Needs pupils

  • willing to train in specifics for the post and participate in continuing professional development (CPD)

Requirements

  • B.Ed (Hons) or PGCE with QTS

  • SEN qualifications

  • a minimum of 4 years SEN teaching experience

  • a detailed knowledge of the new SEN Code of Practice 2014 and proficiency in delivering a range of programmes and interventions

  • leadership and management experience in SEN

  • exceptional communication skills/English language skills

  • high levels of ICT capability
